Tips For Success:

  • Invest in a quality thermometer to ensure your steak is cooked to the desired level of doneness. If you’re planning to cook a thicker cut of steak, preheat your oven at 350°F and finish cooking it there for 5-7 minutes. This will help the inside reach perfect temperature without burning the outside. Don’t forget to let your steak rest! This will ensure that all those flavorful juices stay inside the steak instead of spilling out onto your plate.
  • Play around with different seasonings to make it your own! Different herbs and spices can really bring a steak to life. Have fun! Cooking a perfect Keto Steak doesn’t have to be stressful.
  • Enjoy the process and savor each delicious bite!

Take it To The Next Level:

  • If you want to take your Keto Steak game up a notch, why not try grilling? Grilling your steak gives it an amazing charred flavor that can’t be achieved with a skillet. To do this, simply light your grill and preheat until it reaches 500°F. Place the steak on the preheated grates and cook for 3-4 minutes on each side (or until your desired level of doneness).

EQUIPMENT

Skillet A perfect steak is all about the pan! Choosing the right pan for your steak can make or break your meal. A lot of home chefs love to use cast iron for cooking steak. It comes to temperature slower than aluminum but it retains heat better so you have to cook the whole way through.

The one drawback of cast iron is that it takes lower to heat up and cool down so if you need to make an instant temperature change you might have an issue. Some other great choices are aluminum and steel. Both of these metals heat up quickly and take to temperature adjustments quickly. Or you can try a chemical-free nonstick pan. These coated pans make turning and flipping your steak very easy.

INGREDIENTS

Olive Oil Olive oil is what keeps the steak from sticking to the pan. Don’t worry if you add more than the recipe says a little extra oil never hurts!

Round Steaks The round is a cut of beef near its rump above the shank. It is known as one of the leanest steaks and therefore can sometimes be tough. That is where this Keto Steak Recipe: How to Cook the Perfect Steak Every Time recipe shines. It shows you exactly how to deliciously finish your Keto Steak without experiencing any toughness!

Sea Salt and Pepper Great meat doesn’t need much but a dusting of salt and pepper goes a long way. Season your steak generously.

Butter This Keto decadent dairy makes a delicious steak dressing. The butter is melted to caramelize the onion and make a delicious topping for your steak. Use salted or unsalted butter for this cook.

Onion A small white or yellow onion is a great choice for this filling main dish. Onion adds irresistible earthy sweet and savory flavors to the pan and makes for a great steak topping. It also adds fiber and vitamin C to this very simple dish!

Powdered Vegetable Bouillon Vegetable bouillon is a powdered soup base with tons of concentrated flavor. It’s an ingenious way to sneak some extra seasonings and flavor into the luscious steak topping.

Expert Notes

  • Covering the cooked steak in foil is actually an essential step called resting. This gives the steak time to cool and soak up its own juices so when you slice into your beautiful steak it doesn’t bleed out.
  • Always cut the steak against the grain or on the bias because this keeps the meat tender.
  • This steak is gorgeous when served topped with the creamy keto-friendly sauce and some luscious broccoli or green beans. It’s the perfect meal for an at-home date night or an everyday celebration!
  • To store this steak, allow it to cool and then pop it in the fridge for up to 4 days. Enjoy the leftover cold or reheat it in the pan or microwave; but if microwaving, use short bursts so you don’t make it tough.
  • Covering the cooked steak in foil is actually an essential step called resting. This gives the steak time to cool and soak up its own juices so when you slice it, all the juices stay inside.
  • The bouillon is what gives the sauce its richness and umami flavor. It’s like adding a spoonful of concentrated flavor.
  • It’s an ingenious way to sneak some extra seasonings and flavor into the luscious steak topping. Bouillon can be a bit salty, so if you’re watching your sodium intake look out for low-sodium bouillon.
  • Slicing against the grain is a trick that makes cutting steak easier and more tender, since you’re not fighting the long muscle fibers. To do this, look at the surface of the steak and study how it was cut – usually in thin strips going in one direction or another. Slice perpendicular to those strips (against the grain) to ensure more tenderness.
  • For a more flavorful steak, season it with some classic steak seasonings like salt and pepper before you cook it.
  • Adding herbs like rosemary or thyme can also add an extra layer of flavor.
  • If you want to give that steak even more punch, consider marinating it for several hours or overnight. Choose a marinade that complements the type of steak you’re cooking, like teriyaki for sirloin or Worcestershire sauce for ribeye.
  • Searing your steak in a hot pan is key to getting a nice crust and locking in all the delicious juices. To do this, heat up some oil in the skillet and make sure it’s really hot before adding the steak. Let it cook until you can see a golden-brown crust on the outside, then flip to repeat on the other side.
  • If you want to make your Keto Steak extra special, try serving it with some classic sides like sautéed vegetables or roasted garlic butter mushrooms.
